Suggest Treatment For Increased Blood Sugar Level

Question: Diabetes, Type 2 - recently after I work out my blood sugar actually goes up. Why is that?

This morning my blood sugar was 110 which was okay with me. After doing 3 miles on the treadmill and some weight reps I checked my blood sugar and it was 118. Usually after a workout it drops. This has been going on for the past week or so. Do you have nay insight as to why that happens?

Brief Answer:
phenomenon explained

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your query.
I think I would be able to help you.
The query is very interesting and rarely such keen observation are made.
Here is why it happens-
When we exercise, the body releases many components like endorphins and small doses of steroids. It's a normal response in every person. These have a role on increasing the blood sugars in the body so as to keep enough sugar for exercise. Usually the exercise burns the sugars and so this rise is not noted.
also excess and strenuous exercise results in release of amino acids from the muscles. This is misinterpreted by the sugar tests as sugar.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information helps you. Please feel free to contact us for more information. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.
