Suggest Treatment For Indigestion, Bloating And Loss Of Appetite

default
Posted on Wed, 28 Oct 2015
Question: I have had indegestion bloatedness and loss of appetite for several months. I have lost 5 kg in weight since I started my own language school 6 months ago. If I eat a meal I feel very bloated after and often cannot finish the meal. I went to the doctor two days ago and expressed my concerns. She gave me a blood test to check my liver and kidneys and the results came back negative. She wasn't particularly helpful in explaining what my problem could be and prescribed me: Hyoscine 10mg tablets (buscopan) Curcumin capsules and Ulsanic tablets 1gm.
Could you give me any ideas on what my problem is, and how long should wait to see any improvement? Is cancer a possibility?

Brief answer...you need to consult a gastroenterologist for proper work up and diagnosis
Detailed answer...
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
It's been really a longtime for you to have suffered these symptoms.
Very frankly speaking it is very difficult to make out anything out of your symptoms because these symptoms are found in wide spectrum of diseases varying from H pylori infection to irritable bowel syndrome or disease, ulcerative colitis to abdominal tuberculosis to various types of cancers including intestinal cancer, pancreatic cancer etc.
The best thing would be to consult a gastroenterologist who would run a battery of tests ranging from ultrasound abdomen, endoscopy,CT or MRI abdomen etc.
A proper treatment can be instituted only after finding the cause for your ailment.
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks

I made an appointment to see a gastroenerologist as you suggested at a hospital in the city, which is a 2 hour drive away. When I arrived, i was told the doctor had rescheduled his appointments and cannot see me until Monday. One of the problems of living in Thailand.
In the mean time what should I be doing at home to help aleviate my problem? What foods should I be eating and avoiding? Does drinking 4 glasses of water in the morning help or aggravate the problem? Should I continue taking the medicine the previous doctor prescribed? I haven't noticed any improvement after 4 days.
Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks

Hello,
In addition to the medicines you are taking, take PANTOPROZOLE 40 mg in morning on empty stomach.
You can continue to drink water in morning but make sure to do it 45 minutes after taking PANTOPROZOLE.
Go for regular morning and evening walks.
Avoid spicy,fatty,junk and fried foods.
Consume more of fresh fruits, green vegetables and nuts.
Avoid alcohol.
Wait for your appointment with your gastroenterologist as unless and until a proper diagnosis is made, specific treatment can not be advised.
Eat less and take your evening meal light and appox 3 hours before going to bed.
Thanks
