Suggest Treatment For Infection After Colon Resection
Question: After a sigmoid colon resection where the colon was removed just above navel, I had an infection; resulting in hernia; the repair was done with mesh and I am having pain, although no signs of hernia. Bra pushed on area repeatedly could compromise and having bowel movements or activity go through area seems to be part of the problem. So much more complex than this, but Provider doesn't pay attention to my repeated concerns about what is going on under the mesh which covers most of my abdomen. It is also so close to my stomach that I can only eat small amounts at a time. Where would I go to see what's under the mesh? What type of thorough test. I have a subscription for unlimited answers yet I'm being asked to pay. Do I need to go to customer support
Brief Answer:
You can get Ultrasound done.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Following sigmoid resection and incisional hernia repair such problems are expected. However, if you want to see whats going on an Ultrasound scan can be done after discussing with your doctor which will be able to tell whats happening. A CT scan would be better to delineate the organs however should not be needed unless you feel you are unable to pass stools or flatus. I recommend you discuss with your doctor for possible investigations.

FYI, I GO AS LONG AS TWO WEEKS WITHOUT STOOL MOVING. ONCE IT DOES, THE PAIN WHERE THE COLON WAS REMOVED IS SO EXCRUCIATING I FEEL NAUSEAS AND SWEAT. GETTING CONTINUITY IN CARE IS AWFUL.
THANK YOU
