Posted on Tue, 5 Jan 2016
Question: Hello, I am worried about my luteal phase, that I do not produce enough
Progesterone. My temperatures start to drop in the middle of my luteal
Phase, a week before my period. Should my temps not be dropping
Dramatically just before my period?
I have been trying to conceive for a year now.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
do day 24 progesterone levels to know if you have luteal phase problems

Detailed Answer:
Hi there, welcome to HCM,
Since you have been trying for a year it is necessary to evaluate you fully for infertility. This will include day 24 progesterone levels, this gives an idea about luteal phase problems. The temperature measurement is not very reliable method to monitor the cycle.
You need to consider partner semen analysis, day 2 FSH levels, and pelvic ultrasound to see an trial follicles and uterine lining. If you have previous history of pelvic infection or surgery also consider tubal tests such as HSG( XXXXXXX test).
Hope this helps.
Regards.
