Suggest Treatment For Inflamed Colon

Question: I have been diagnosed with an enflamed colon and it's been that way for almost a year. A doctor found it with a CT scan and they also found a mass in the peritinium. l changed surgeons because the doctor that found it would not schedule the surgery due to his vacation schedule. This surgeon will schedule it now but I forgot to ask him about the mass. Also the infectious disease doctor (due to C-Diff) gave me Vancomycin Hydrocloride and I have had diarrhea ever since. It worries me because it is constant and it''s black. I think there is blood in it. They had me do a stool sample but it won't go in until tomorrow. It is frozen to keep it fresh. I am very worried and wondering if I might have colon cancer or what might be causing the bleeding. Why did the diarrhea start after I started that medicine. I was somewhat constipated before that and before that I was having normal bowel movements. I go to the surgeon again on Tuesday and the Infectious disease doctor on Wednesday, but I am not feeling secure and not sure of what I should be asking. Can you help me?
No one has asked me if I had blood in my stool. I'm not sure if I can call the lab and ask them to check the fecal sample I take over tomorrow.

Brief Answer:
Dont worry and go ahead with Surgery.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX.
Whether you have infected colon that is Diverticulitis or a tumor in either case you should get it removed surgically. The choice of Laporscopy or Open Surgery should lie with your Surgeon. Once they operate they would know what they are dealing with and then they would send the removed tissue for a Biopsy to confirm what was inside. So I would suggest you see your Surgeon and go ahead with Surgery.
The stools could have blood in either case so that is why they might not be enquiring about it.
Dont worry and you should be alright once the Surgery is done.
Take care and let me know if we can help you further with any queries.
