Suggest Treatment For Inflammation Of Nail Fold And Ingrown Toenail
I saw my GP, he believes it to be a nail bed infection but I would feel much better if you would provide your thoughts.Â
After two days, a white 'head' seemed to form on the 3rd toe. Similar to a blister. I took a sterile needle and pushed it thru both sides and removed the affected skin resulting in the 'holes' or red centers evident in the 3rd toe photos. I should note, that no liquid oozed when I did this.Â
For as bad as they look, they are not providing much discomfort. The first two photos are from two days ago, the last three from today. I would greatly appreciate your help and thank you for your time.
Its because of your pedicure method

HI, Thanks for asking in healthcaremagic forum
I am Dr Deepak S Jois answering your query
By your pics it is evident that there is inflammation in your nail fold(on sides) giving it red appearance and toe nails are cut at sides.
Usually finger nails are cut in curvi-linear fashion and toe nails are cut straight. If this method is not followed, then there are chances of ingrowing toe nails as the nail starts growing at sides giving you problem.
Blister like lesion on your toes can also be due to
a. Friction
b. Tight shoes
c. Vitamin deficiencies etc
So, you can continue to take oral and local antibiotic ointments as prescribed by your doctor for infection and try the new method of manicure & pedicure to prevent recurrence.
If not subsided please visit your doctor again for followup and further investigations to find out the cause of your lesions.
Hope I have answered your query. Please let me know if I can help you further.
All the best.
