Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
From the details provided, either he is having acne/pimples or pseudofolliculitis.
Acne is an infection and inflammation of pilosebaceous follicle/oil gland. Pseudofolliculitis occurs due to irritation caused by ingrown hair.
Acne presents as blackheads/whiteheads, red elevated or pus filled lesions. Pseudofolliculitis usually occurs in beard or moustache area as red elevated lesions.
I would appreciate if you could attach an image of your friend's face, so that I can see the lesions and provide a suitable treatment.

Brief Answer:
He seems to have acne
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for uploading the pic.
He seems to have acne vulgaris.
Had I been his prescibing doctor, I would have started
Tablet Minocycline 100 mg daily
Benzoyl peroxide/nadifloxacin/clindamycin cream twice in a day
Salicylic acid face wash twice in a day.
If the lesions are tender, he may do warm water compresses, to help the lesion drain.
Hope this helped.
Take care

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Apologies for delayed response!
He is having acne vulgaris.
Proactive contain benzoyl peroxide, so its use may help in controlling acne. However as he has Grade 3 acne, oral antibiotics are definitely required.
Hope this helped.
