Suggest Treatment For Inguinal Hernia
Question: I am a 61 year old male who suffered a mild ischemic stroke back in January. I will probably need surgery to repair an inguinal hernia and want to know if general or local anesthesia is safer. I am not sure if this is relevant but I have also suffered from HCV since my late thirties but am largely asymptomatic. Shall I see a neurologist or a doctor who specializes in urology?
Brief Answer:
please consult a neurologist and Urologist
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I Understand your concern
You need to consult a local general surgeon or urologist for the management of inguinal hernia. Depending upon the type of hernia, they will decide the type of repair to be done and this will answer if you need a general anaethesia or a a local one. You need to consult a neurologist to take the opinion about the stoppage of medications (The blood thinner like Aspirin for ischemic stroke) during the surgery as it may increase the risk of bleed.
