Suggest Treatment For Insomnia
I have a few questions that may provide me some insight
Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.
Thank you for writing to us.
I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. I understand this must be both worrying and frustrating, but if you do not mind me asking a few questions:
1. Is she on birth control?
2. And when was her last period?
3. Does she have a regular menstrual cycle? If yes, please provide me with the duration, LMP, etc.
4. Does she have any chronic medical conditions (e.g. diabetes, hypertension, polycystic ovaries, etc.)?
5. Have the two of you been practising safe intercourse or unprotected intercourse?
6. Is she stressed or worried about anything that you can think of or know? Ask her this also and get back to me.
I hope you find my response helpful and informative. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.
Best wishes.
she is a week from her next period but this has been going on for two months now.
her cycle runs pretty normally. one big day and two smaller ones and she is usually done.
no chronic medical conditions. we are young 30's and very healthy
we do not use contraceptives and we do have unprotected sex.
She is stressed about her work situation, but no more than experienced in the past, and thoughts aren't anxious at night.
thank you for your help, dr
A little more information
Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.
Thank you for that information.
2 points I would like to shed light on:
1. When you said she is expecting her period in a week from now, "but this is going on for two months now":
Did you mean the insomnia is going on for 2 months now? Or did you mean she has a delayed period?
If it is the insomnia that is going on for 2 months now, may be we should also check her hormone levels, because you did mention not using contraceptives and yet you have unprotected sexual intercourse, which should have resulted in conception and it hasn't. So checking her hormone levels may be wise, because a hormonal imbalance can also easily cause insomnia in women sir.
2. Stress can be perceived in different ways, and although the subject causing stress may seem simpler than the usual ones, I still recommend visiting a psychiatrist who may be able to help. But I am only trying to cover every aspect which is why I am recommending this as well.
Now a few more questions sir, please do bear with me:
+Have you seen any signs or symptoms of her being unhappy, sad, crying often or easily, worried about anything in specific, or generally unhappy? If so, please do write to me about it.
+Is she on any medications other than what she started on before the insomnia?
I look forward to hearing from you in order to help you further.
Best wishes.
