Suggest Treatment For Intermittent Swollen Sore Lump On The Inside Of Lower Lip
Question: Hi
For the last 2 weeks I have had a lump about 1cm on the inside of my lower lip that comes and goes. It swells up and is sore and then it will go away for a couple of days. I notice that the area is red when the area is swollen and the lip is normal color when it goes away. I'm concerned as we are leaving for a cruise out of the country for 2 weeks and don't want to have problems while we are gone. Thanks for the help.

Brief Answer:
looks like mucocele
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM,
What you have looks like a mucocele. It is a mucous filled sac and is usually not a problem. They tend to come and go but if they get very large sometimes they need to be removed.
Here is a site where you can read more about them.

For the most part you can just ignore this and it should go away. If it does not then see your doctor when you get back from your cruise.
Except for being somewhat annoying, it should not cause you problems on the cruise.
Have a great trip,
