Well, bowel obstruction may be partial, temporary or complete.
Partial is benign condition and can be caused by opstipation or certain diet.
Complete obstruction(a major medical/surgical emergency) is characterized by absence of bowel movements,nausea,abdominal cramps.
The critical period for stool absence is 3 days and after this you should see doctor,do abdominal X-rays or CT Scan.

You should take more fluids,high fibre vegetables and magnesium carbonated drink..if this doesn't work,you can try with glicerine supossitories and laxatives should be taken as last therapy.
