default
Posted on Thu, 9 Jun 2016
Question: Hi, I have mild case of PCOS but a lot of unnatural stress has worsened my condition in the past 2 months. After the same, my menstruation stopped completely. I took a course of Meparate for 5 days, 3 tabs a day but still couldn't get my period. My gyne suggested me to start with Birth control pills and exercise to get the stress away. It has been a week since I started the pill and now I have mild spotting. Is this normal?

Brief Answer:
Mild spotting is normal. Effect of pill.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Dear,

Thanks for writing to us. Followings are my comments:

1) Combined birth control pills are the mainstay of treatment of PCOS. It will help to regularize your monthly cycle.

Mild spotting is due to effect of the pill. It is quite common and normal thing for initial 1 to 2 months and first time pill-user. Maintain genital hygiene properly.

2) You must take healthy balanced diet with fresh fruits and vegetables. LOW carbohydrate diet is most preferable. Avoid fatty, salty and fast food.

3) Weight control or reduction has key role to regularize cycle. You should contact with physical trainer for fitness and diet chart. Avoid mental stress completely by regular meditation/ yoga in the morning. Maintain a healthy life style always.

Hope, it helps for your information. Wish your good health and take care.
