Suggest Treatment For Irregular Periods And Hormonal Problems

Question: Hi I am 32 yrs. initially I had irregular periods due to which doctor prescribed me ginette35 mentioning hormonal issues. I have continued the tablet for many years. I do not have any side affects what so ever and my periods are regular with the medicine. Now I am getting married and want to conceive immediately. Will this long usage of the medicine have any effect on me conceiving a baby? Should I just stop the pill when I want to conceive ? Please advise

Hello,
Thanks for the query to HCM,
If you have been on ginette 35 for years now which is a low dose oc pill given in cases of PCOS cases. Now as you are married and if you intend to conceive then you must stop the pack such that the whole pack for 21 days is finished and the withdrawal bleed is seen in next week. The ovulation may not occur immediately in the next month but may take 2-3 months after prolonged usage , but it is claimed that low dose pills, ovulation is resumed sooner and so is the fertility.
Regards

Thank you doctor,
I want to know whether I should stop the pills after first time intercourse (after marriage) or should i just stop the course once from the next cycle onwards without having sex. If I stop it immediately wont it effect my periods. Or do I stop it after only after having unprotected sex? Can you advise how long it may take to concieve?

hello,
you should stop when you decide to conceive. if you want to conceive next month , then you should complete the course /pack for this month and wait for menses. don't use the pills for next month and have recent unprotected intercourses. You ned not start the pack again .
it may take 1-2 months sometimes for ovulation to restart so stop pills a month prior your marriage so that by a month into marriage you shall conceive,
regards

Will that affect my periods if I stop the medicine? I generally take it from the fifth day from my period. Will my periods stop if I don't take the med? Will affect my next cycle? What if I don't get my periods next month?

Hello,
As you have been on ginette 35 for possibly PCOS , then it may happen that once you stop the pills PCOS may again cause some hormonal imbalances and you may have a delayed menses , but it generally gets manifested after 2-3 cycles usually if the pills haven't been able to control the hormone balance already. In that case if you miss your menses, then you may perform a pregnancy test after 7 days and if negative then you can consult your physician for a likely ovulation induction after a preliminary ultrasound for analysing the extent of polycystic ovaries and also a repeat hormonal profile,
