Question: i am asking to a pediatrician. sir/madam, my kid of 4yrs has itching on her forearm, elbows, back of his forearms, even on ears & some part of legs too. we noticed this just 2 days ago & we thought it may be because of mosquito bite but yesterday it looked that the pimples /allergy that he is getting is more. please see the pictures attached.
we went to our family doctor (he is a general physician). he told nothing to worry & gave B-CG cream (image is attached). please advice on this.
what are these pimples & whats the reason to get this?
do we continue applying the same cream or u advice anything different? pls explain in detail

Brief Answer:
Likely to be due to an allergic reaction.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. It could be due to an allergic reaction. Continue to apply B-CG cream but please do not use it for more than a week. Taking some antiallergic like cetirizine or benadryl (or possibly better ones like fexofenadine or loratidine which are prescription medicines) should help. You could also apply some emollient like calamine lotion or some moisturizer like aloe vera lotion.

It might take a few days to recover and so you need to be patient.

Let me know if I could help further.

Thanks for the reply sir. We have been applying B-CG cream from 2 days. it looks like these pimple kind of things are getting dried. will see for 2-3 days more by applying the same cream. i will upload new images by tomorrow or so, so that you can see if these are getting reduced.

(1) we are applying this cream twice a day (in the morning & night). is that sufficient or how to apply the cream?

(2) should we go to the doctor for antiallergic (like cetirizine or benadryl that you suggested) medicines or shall we wait as it looks like these pimple kind of things are getting dried?

(3) sir, my all time question has been: in these kind of situations when we visit hospitals, should we consult a dermatologist or pediatrician? we often get confused. can u pls educate us when should we visit pediatricians & when should we visit respective specialists?by the way, once this is cured, wil this leave black marks on the skin?

Brief Answer:
Unlikely to leave long standing marks

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

1. Yes, that is sufficient. Just continue as you are doing.

2. You can feel free to go to the doctor but I doubt if it is required. My suggestion would be to wait.

3. You can vist a dermatologist. However, a pediatrician would also be able to treat it. The rashes would subside in a week even if you stay on the ongoing treatment.
