Posted on Mon, 11 Jul 2016
Question: I have a chronic nail problem. When I cut my nails the corners of the fingers start itching and become black in a few days. Then it starts paining and the fingertips gets so sensitive that even a mild touch hurts like hell. It takes more than a month to subside and by then my nails again grows enough so that I am forced to cut them again and the same gets repeated. PLS. Suggest me what to do.

Brief Answer:
Fungal infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query.
Probably you have developed fungal infection of nails and also you are cutting the edges much deeper.
You can apply ointment clotrimazole to be applied twice daily for a month.
It is safe and effective.
Avoid cutting the edges of nail too deep.
Let me know If you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Gangrene

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Probably it's not only fungal.
You are developing gangrene.
It happens due to lack of blood supply to fingers as blood vessels get constricted due to smoke.
Meet a surgeon soon and get a color Doppler of blood vessels of leg.
It's important to find out whether there is any obstruction.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
