It could be tinea/fungal infection.

Is it dry, red and scaly?

Area is larger than I thought. I cannot upload a picture. It is not raised or scaley. No evidence of anyother site. Has been here for 4-6 wks.

I suggest you to try an otc antifungal cream e.g clotrimazole 1% cream or miconazole nitrate 2% cream for 2 weeks
