Suggest Treatment For Itchy Dry Skin On Breasts
I just had a baby and he is 4 month old. when my baby is almost 3 month old my wife had some skin problem in her breast. Now it's almost a month or so is been suffering from this skin problem in her breast. Initially it was there on he right breast majorly but it also appears in her left breast as well. It's very itching type and dry. I got worried and went to the same gynecologist who did her C-section. She suggested Betnovate Cream to apply in the affected area. But's it's been quite some time now she is using this medicine; although it shows some effect but still the disease is there.
Kindly advice the needful medication and other thing to cure this. what kind of skin problem it is? I have also attached the photo of the same.
Kindly provide clearer pictures and details

Hi
I understand your concern regarding your skin problem and I hope I am able to help you in the same.
I have seen the attached pictures.
Sorry to say ,but the picture quality is not that great.
If possible ,click some good resolution close up pictures in good light of the affected areas and upload them on this page.
Looking at the pictures provided ,I suspect that she has developed a fungal infection over the area .
A closer look would probably be confirmatory.
Also please tell if she has itching and rash at the area or the crease below the breast as well .
Any itching in groin area?
Is she applying oil over the affected areas?
I am sure I will be able to help you better once you provide me the pictures along with the above details.

Follicular infection ,needs regular treatment
Detailed Answer:
Hi again
I have seen the attached pictures.
She seems to have developed a follicular blockage along with eczema in the area .
Such a presentation is quite common in lactating females .
She needs to apply an antibiotic steroid combination cream over the affected area .
There are various combinations of fucidin cream and beclomethasone available in the market .
She should apply it twice daily ,taking care not to apply it over the nipples .
In addition ,sometimes oral antihistamines have to be given along in cases with severe itching .
Benadryl or loratidine are considered to be safer in lactation .
If however ,even after using to above medicine for seven to ten days ,there is not much relief ,then I would surely suggest that you should see a dermatologist on person for a closer and proper assessment and management .
Wear cotton undergarments.
Avoid oil application over the affected area.
Hope it helps

So it is follicular blockage along with eczema! Please elaborate why is it common for lactating females?
Also the medicine combination you have suggested like combinations of fucidin cream and beclomethasone; Please suggest specific medicine name one or two so she can start using it right way.
Same for oral antihistamines; I understand you mentioned Benadryl or loratidine; but should i go for Benedryl capsule? please be specific of medicine name and how many to have in a day.
Also as my baby is on breastfeed, these oral medicines are safe?
Expecting your early reply.
Hormonal changes can cause
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Due to hormonal changes, and a decrease immunity during pregnancy and lactation, such skin changes can occur, but these tend to settle slowly with time.
You can start applying fucibet cream or flutibact cream over the affected areas twice daily.
In addition, she can take tablet loratidine once at night for a week.
You can take the above treatment for ten days.
However I would surely recommend you to see a Dermatologist, if the lesions tend to persist or increase.
