Posted on Fri, 31 Jul 2015
Question: Sir, I am 18 year-old male from Andhra Pradesh and I was habituated to keep fingers inside my nostrils and twist whenever it is itching.five days back I filled bottles with water from a stainless steel beaker at the bottom of the beaker there was black color dust like dirt and sediment after touching that sediments, my nose began to itch and I kept my fingers inside nostril and accidentally due to my long finger nails the wall of nostril was cut and began to bleed soon I took some piece of old newspaper and cleaned the blood . After three days i began to have flu like symptoms and burning sensation and mild fever with nausea and head at back and sides are hot to touch is it possible to get infected by n fowleri and acenthaneba spp. Or meningitis? And I am feeling pain when I press my eyes and having urine infection. am I at the risk if getting infected? And what are treatment options? And how to prevent from getting infected? I am having intense head pressure (full head squeeze)and pain in back of head and neck. when I press my eyes I get clear fluid from nose. and sometimes it comes even without pressing and I hear cracking sounds in my head and feel the pulse(like heartbeat) in back of head when I sleep.and also inhaled some water at that time today is 5th day and i am using antibiotics from day 2 no effect from them (amoxcillyn and clavulanate) my headache are becoming worsened.

Brief Answer:
Sinusitis

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.
Hi, I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.
You seem to have developed Acute Sinusitis with Acute Allergic Rhinitis.
With these complains, there is no evidence of meningitis. You would require to take treatment for Sinusitis only. The headache you are feeling seems to be due to the sinusitis only.
Usually an acute attack takes 5 days to settle down. But if you have persisting sinusitis, you would require to get CT Para nasal sinuses.
If the CT shows slight sinus infection, then it can be treated with conservative treatment.
But if the infection is severe, you would require surgery for the same.
Conservative management includes:
1. Steam inhalation 4-6 times a day.
2. To take anti allergic like Levocetrizine
3. In cases, who don't respond to anti allergic drugs, Fluticasone Nasal spray.
4. Short course of antibiotics like Azithromycin or Clarithromycin helps a lot.
This is my personal opinion based on details available here. If you still have any other query, you may please ask me.
Stay Healthy.

Brief Answer:
CT Para nasal sinuses

Detailed Answer:
Hi, You would require CT Para nasal sinuses or at least X-ray Para Nasal Sinuses.
Get an evaluation done by your doctor. He would look for any signs of meningitis clinically.
If he finds any he would get you investigated.
Good Luck
