Posted on Thu, 2 Mar 2017
Question: I have mild itchy skin without rash at whole body (scalp, legs, hands, chest )constantly for 16 months . This is accompanied by some small but disturbing random pains (like needles). Also I have tachycardia very often , a mild shortness of breath occasionally . Also my arms are very easily fatigued when lifting a weight . Also I have a strange sensation at legs when I walk downstairs ..I have a lot of blood work done and examined by a cardiologist and nothing came up. I also had a clean chest X-ray , brain MRI , and thyroid screening tests . I'm desperated for answers but no one seems to have one.

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

These symptoms you describe are all highly consistent with somatic symptoms of anxiety. Itching, random pains, palpitations, shortness of breath, fatigue -- these are all classic anxiety symptoms. To treatment, I recommend a combination of SSRI medication (such sertraline or escitalopram) and cognitive behavioral psychotherapy (CBT). This combination treatment is highly effective.
