Posted on Fri, 21 Oct 2016
Question: I started mobic 2 days ago and I woke up this morning with itching and red skin on my arms, chest and back. Looks like a sun burn. Could this be related to the drug? I have sjogrens syndrome and related to that I had subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus about 3 years ago. Have been on 200 mg of plaquinil for over 3 years. I am 74 years old. I also started a new drug for stomach issues protonic. Thank you, XXXX

Brief Answer:
Probably linked to mobic. Upload images for review!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this probable reaction that you have reported. Looking at the timeline and information about this drug, it is the most likely cause of your rash. Also, I will appreciate an image of review to make sure that this falls perfectly in line with the suspected cause and nothing else. This is possible by looking closely on the right upper side of the screen to identify the upload a file icon.

On another note, it is not consistent to be on protonix and mobic at the same time. It might be important to ask the doctor about the aggressive nature of this drug on the stomach, it might not be the best given the fact that you already have some stomach issues.

I hop etc hear back from you. I wish you well. Hopefully, get the images to me and if there are any issues, kindly let me know so that I can guide you through.

I hope you got my upload. I forgot to mention that there is a prickly, tingling with the rash. I will not take either medication anymore. I am trying to send one more.
Thank you, XXXXX

Brief Answer:
Yes, stop both medications! They can be stopped without great fear!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have reviewed the two images and they are in line with a possible drug reaction to Mobic. Stop the drugs and talk to your doctor for review and possible substitution with another medication.

Keep me posted on how this unfolds.
