Suggest Treatment For Itchy Scalp In A Child
Question: My 1.3yr old baby boy used to rub his head most of the time. He may be have itching in his hair and head as well. can you please suggest some better solution for the same. I am using Himalaya baby shampoo and soap. Using dabur lal oil(before bath) and XXXXXXX baby oil(after bath) as well.
Brief Answer:
Use of ketoconazole shampoo should be helpful.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
It seems that your child is having a fungal infection of his scalp. If that is the case, there are two things that can be done. The first is the use of Nizoral (ketoconazole) shampoo on alternate days. The other alternative is to use Candid (clotrimazole) lotion topically.
Using normal baby shampoos or baby oil would not help. Try the methods and see if it helps. If it does not, a proper clinical examination would be needed and you would need to see a doctor.
Let me know if I could help further.
