Suggest Treatment For Itchy Skin Infection
Scabies features with secondary infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to this portal!
I am Dr V XXXXXXX
I am a Sr Consultant Dermatologist
I have examined your case history and this corresponds to a parasitic infection with features of super added bacterial infection.
If you were to present for treatment, then I would have thoroughly examined and suggested the following:
1 The infection is to be controlled first by using local and oral antibiotics. Mupirocin and Cephalexin are good choices. Please avoid Beclomethasone as steroid will give only symptomatic relief while underlying disease has a risk of spread.
2 Antihistamines can be taken in the recommended dose to control itching
3 Once infection is controlled , please use Gamma Benzene Hexachloride lotion once a week, using three applications 12 hours apart, every week for 4-5 weeks. Please start every weekly treatment after a scrub bath and wait for the next bath at least until 12 hours later than the last of three applications. Each application is to be given neck downwards with massage.
4 You might use foot end elevation to relive edema
With these measures, you stand to gain almost immediately.
Please ensure that other family members do not come in contact and your bed linen are separately used and washed.
Best wishes from us!
