Question: My granddaughter age 24 has been diagnosed tentatively with Addison'a disease but now has no insurance to get needed test done. She's on no meds and her hands shake, has various joint pains and fatigue. She's desperate for some help and just lost her good job and has a 6 y/o to care for. They live with me now so we need help asap. #69V72925YF0000 She has been to MD and hospital without success.

Brief Answer:
I'd suggest trying an urgent care clinic or walk-in clinic.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question.

I understand that your granddaughter is in a very stressful situation.

If you don't have health insurance, paying for such care can seem overwhelming. Because of this, things may be tempted to put off getting the care you need.

However, it's extremely important that you seek medical attention before your granddaughters' condition worsens any further.

In her specific case, the alternatives are to go to a hospital emergency department (where you can't be denied care or treatment) or to try an urgent care clinic or walk-in clinic. Call ahead and ask how much a visit will cost.

When scheduling an appointment, tell the doctor's office that your granddaughter is uninsured and ask if discount rates are available. If discount rates aren't available or are too expensive for you, call other facilities in the area - some provide less expensive care than others.

At the other side, low cost or free care is also available at community health centers.

Laboratory blood test to confirm the diagnosis of Addison's disease are necessary in your granddaughter's case but the problem is that it can be expensive.

You can choose where you go to get your test. The cost of lab tests differs quite a bit. You can search for the cost of the necessary tests and compare the average costs of lab tests so you can choose the most convenient lab in your locality.

Hope this is helpful.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.
Best regards.
