Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this high blood pressure that you have had a for a pretty longtime. High blood pressure in young persons like you is usually caused by some other disease condition as opposed to adults that the high blood pressure usually has no cause. Did your doctors ever succeed to identify the cause and address specifically? Medications alone would rarely get this blood pressure well controlled unless the cause is addressed fully. Talk to your doctors about this and hear what they say!
Complications of poorly controlled high blood pressure include stroke, heart attack, nerve and blood vessel damage, kidney damage, poor vision, etc. How soon they set in depends on how poorly the blood pressure is controlled but, no one can say effectively when this would occur. Someone with poorly controlled blood pressure can develop stroke or heart attack today and others would not. What matters most is controlling it to the best of your abilities as this would prevent the onset of complications for longer periods.
In all, the age cannot be predicted. Poor control would lead to early onset of complications. Do your best(diet, drugs, exercises and lifestyle modifications) to have the best numbers possible and prevent complications for as long as possible.
I hope this helps, I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Hi,
Thanks for this follow up precision. The risk of not having this blood pressure well controlled is that you can develop complications linked to this. What I cannot and no one else can tell you with precision is at what age would you start developing complications.
Regular check ups including kidney function tests, heart tests, eye exams, etc. would be able to timely identify any ongoing damage and intensify efforts to get them controlled and managed right.
I understand your worries. I am so sorry there is no exact answer to this.
Feel free to keep the discussion going if need be.

Hi,
Fast heart rate alone is not a complication of hypertension. However, if it is accompanied by an abnormal rhythm, then it could be caused by poorly controlled high blood pressure. To be so sure of what is going on, please get an EKG for most reliable information.
Changing the lenses may not necessarily be caused by high blood pressure. Has your doctor ever talked about hypertensive retinopathy to you? If not, what has always been the diagnosis of your visual difficulties? There are several different reasons for which your glasses may be changed that are not related to high blood pressure. And most importantly, lenses would not ameliorate vision in case of damage caused by high blood pressure to the eyes.
Let me hear what your thoughts are on this. I wish you well.
