Suggest Treatment For Kidney Problems
Question: hi i had twice sonography in 2 months time.in first time my right kedney measures 10.0 *4.2.there it was observed mild fullness of left pelvicalyceal system.few echogenic specs in renal sinus.No renass mass noted.
in second sonography my right kidney is 9.9*4.5 and left kidney is 7.4*3.5 smaller in size with mild prominence of pelvicalcyeal system.
impression- small left kidney with prominent pelvicalceal system
cystitis with significant PVRU S/O chronic retention
is it something very serious.can it be cured my medicines?

left small kidney was not healthy since a long time. Not every one will be symptomatic or manifest with some complaint when one kidney is affected. Unless the injury to left kidney is of such a long time, it is unlikely that it can produce "scarring" and damage the kidney so that it becomes small. It happens over a period of several years.
The mmost probable cause of small kidney one side in your case may be " VUR , means vesico-ureteric reflux, where in the urine goes up with force from the bladder the moment some one starts passing urine. It will injure the kidney and produces scar. The fullness of pelvi calyceal sysytem also suggests the same. You need to get further investigated especially MCUG test, which can demonstrate VUR, but only after few basic investigations. YOu can meet a local nephrologist and urologist
