Brief Answer:
Stone lodged in tissue part of kidney can not be removed by ureteroscopy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for your query .

You have been detected to have stone lodged in tissue part (Cortex) of the kidney
and you have undergone lithotripsy for the same .

The stone in the tissue part of the kidney are called as Nephrocalcinosis and can not be fragmented by either lithotripsy nor by Ureteroscopy.

First thing I would like to state that you seem to have stone in the Calyceal Diverticulum and not in cortex .This needs to be confirmed by doing Intra Venous Pyelography (I.V..P.).

As such most of the time stones in the diverticulum of the calyx does not cause any severe pain and can be left alone without any treatment ,

It needs to be treated if it increases in size or becomes very painful. It can not be accessed through Ureteroscope and has to be removed by a procedure called Per Cutaneous Nephro Lithotomy(PCNL) by dilating the mouth of divericulum through the calyx and fragmenting or delivering the stone through collecting system .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.
Dr.Patil.
