Suggest Treatment For Knot Under The Ribs
Please give additional information.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
To recapitulate: Male/59 - have a small eraser knot under the skin - about an inch under the left rib cage - Medication tried- Doxy and Lorazepam...
Under the skin means looks to be free from skin.
Seems to be without pain or tenderness.
The most probable diagnosis is:
Lipoma - this is knot like swelling which moves easily, non-tender, must have been present for a long time and gradually growing. There may be similar small or large present elsewhere in the body.
There can be other reasons like a sebaceous cyst, mass from the muscles itself or a small hernia and so on for which I need more details.
Please give additional information:
Since how long is the knot?
What is exact size?
Is there any pain or tenderness?
Is it XXXXXXX in spite the muscles of abdomen are made tight?
Does it increase in size on coughing or straining and reduces and go back to be not palpable on lying down?
Any other information that you would like to share.
I hope this answer helps you to et an early and proper diagnosis and helps in planning a treatment if necessary.
Clinical evaluation and investigations for all the problems you mentioned.
Detailed Answer:
Noted your history on feedback about bloating of stomach and noticing this hard lump today only. Also noted about prostate treatment, losing weight going twice for BM, swollen tonsils, tiredness and back pain. The knot is hard without any pain...
I think that you should get your stools, urine and blood tested.
Also get an ultrasonography of the abdomen, the abdominal wall to know what the swelling probably mat be, FNAC if required or excision of the mass to get rid of the swelling and to get an accurate diagnosis.
Although this is of short duration the description does not fit well into any of the known problems.
Hence the need to get a clinical evaluation, preferably by a General Surgeon and
further management of all the issues you raised above.
I hope this answer helps you.
