Suggest Treatment For Lacrimal Caruncle Infection
Question: My right eye caruncle looks like an open crater. This has been cronic for at least a year. It more annoying than painful as it collects eye crud.
Brief Answer:
A photograph of the affected area and following data are required...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your concerns.
A photograph of your right eye is required for further evaluation and best treatment options.
I need to know if:
- you have consulted with an ophtalmologist so far?
- you have been using any medication recently (locally or orally)?
- have you run any diagnostic test?
Chronic infection or inflammation is suspected. However, I need to know what tests you have done so far and meds you've been using to help you further.
Thank you!

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
Thank you for providing additional information.
As per your description, it seems that the lacrimal caruncle has gone infected. It could be great if you could have sent a photo to me however,
I advise as following :
- immediate evaluation by ophthalmologist is required as you need to start prescription antibiotics. Until you see ophthalmologist, I advise to :
- keep the area well clean
- apply warm compresses with water or chamomile tea
- take OTC anti inflammatory medications
Hope it was of help!
