Suggest Treatment For Large Bump On Back Of Head Caused By Injury
Question: Fell backwards over a curb and hit my head on a concrete post. I did not pass out but have a large goose egg on upper left side of the back of my head. Currently head does not hurt and I am not dizzy. Out of town at hotel. What do I need to do?
Brief Answer:
Considerations
Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.
I think with the degree of trauma what you experienced it would be in your best interest to report to your local emergency room for evaluation. They would consider performing a CT scan to make sure there is no bleeding under the skull.
I realize you currently feel fine but bleeding can occur without symptoms and can progress to a very serious type of situation. For this reason I think it's reasonable to get an evaluation as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Dr. Galamaga

Brief Answer:
Follow up
Detailed Answer:
hello again.
Worrisome symptoms would include dizziness or worsening headaches. If any of these develop you absolutely need to be seen at the local emergency room.
Again my recommendation is to be seen by a local emergency room provider regarding your recent injury. I cannot provide you with any comfort that you may be at risk for bleeding without an official examination in person.
