However, regarding laryngomalacia, let me mention that the ailment occurs when the cartilage of the airway tracts is weak and hence the airways get collapsed while breathing in, thus giving rise to stridor (a wheezing sound). No ENT intervention would actually help in case of such a condition and all you need to do is to be patient and wait till around 6 months of age when the cartilage matures a bit. Before that, management would be purely supportive, consisting of stuff like nebulisation.

Let me know if I could help further.

Hi my worry is he vomits once a day so weight gain is not good. So do I continue with my Pediatrician and wait for 6 months. His weight is just over 3.2 Kg after 3 months.

Brief Answer:
Breast feeding would be the best

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

Yes, I would insist you to continue with your pediatrician and wait for at least 6 months of age.

Regarding the throwing up, I need to ask whether you are breast feeding or formula feeding the baby. Let me emphasize on the fact that breast milk is the best possible milk for a baby and there can be no alternatives for the same. Most formula milks are cow milk based and hence difficult to digest and that could be the reason of his vomiting. Moreover they make the child more prone to complications and infections. Mother's breast milk is produced on the demand of the baby and would help in better nutrition of the baby.

Let me know if I could help further.

Hi how nebulization can help in this case and how often it can be given. Should I try with saline water or levolin 0.3 ? Some docs told me nebulization should only,be given when there is congestion in chest as it is cold air which can cause cold. Will there can be slight improvement when cartilage will mature after some time.

Brief Answer:
Explanation provided

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

Nebulization can be given at 4 hourly intervals or when needed. Stridor (during breathing in) is likely to be present but if wheezing (while breathing out) is present, or if there is respiratory distress, give Levolin. Use saline at other times. Water in the saline or Levolin hydrates the airways and helps in reducing congestion.

The cartilage matures with time and would take 6 months to one year for the same.
