Question: I have a small pliable lump in my top left groin area. I have lipomas in various other areas of my body, but this one is relatively new and didn't know if I should be concerned. It is not painful or uncomfortable. I am a 58 year old overweight male. Your thoughts?

Brief Answer:
May be a hernia

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Male/58 - multiple lipomas in various other areas - but a relatively new small pliable lump has appeared in top left groin area -
Please check the following and give me the feedback:
- Put a palm on the lump and cough forcefully - watch for any increase in size or impulse on coughing - If there is an impulse then this may be a hernia. Hernia is painless and reducible too unless it is obstructed or incarcerated or strangulated.
- Get this confirmed whether this is a hernia or a lipoma or any such lump by clinical examination by a General Surgeon and get operated if it is required.

I hope this answer helps you.
Awaiting for your feedback.
