Suggest Treatment For Loose Motion Despite Taking Econorm

Question: I am having loose motions from today afternoon, I had to go for bathroom twice in 6 hours. I have taken econorm once , but I had to go bathroom again, 3 hrs after taking econorm. Please suggest some medicine.

Hello,

Start taking Tab Rifaximin 550 mg once daily) and secnidazole 1 gram daily for 5 days.
Along with it take isapghul husk,It will increase the bulk of your stools.
Tab imodium 4mg stat folowed by 2 mg twice daily can be added to control frequency of motions.
Continue econorm twice daily.
Eat light and easily digestible food.
Drink plenty of water and electrolytes(Electral) to maintain rehydration.
You would be fine in a day.

Thanks for your response. I have not had any loose motion after my complaint yesterday. So I had only twice loose motion yesterday as mentioned earlier and only once today (Normal .. solid ). I had only taken one econorm yesterday . Do you think I should still take medication as per you suggestion or should I avoid taking any medication.

Hello Sir,

I have taken econorm only for two days and that too once a day, since there were no signs of loose motion. But yesterday evening when I had some outside snack(dosa). I felt little stomach upset next day morning.

Can you suggest should I continue econorm twice a day.

Hello,

As told by me earlier most likely you are having bacterial gastroenteritis which means infection and inflammation of intestines.
Take a three days course of-
Rifaximin 550 mg once daily(antibacterial)
Metrogyl 400mg thrice daily(Anti protozoal)
Along with it take econorm thrice daily
Yakult twice daily
Fermented food like yoghurt.
Eat home made light veg food or khichri for 3 days.
You would be fine in 3 days.

Hi Sir,

Earlier when I had stomach upset , I had to taken medication suggested by pharmacist (Yeldoper & some antibiotic ) . Because of that medicine I have got side effect of IBS for quite some time .

Can you please let me know ,based on my past experience is there a possibility of any side effect with this medication.

Hi,

Eldopers function is just to constipate you hence it would stop loose motions,But the bad and toxic bacterias still persists in your intestines so as soon as you would return back to normal food loose motion etc would return back.
I have suggested you the latest medication that too just for 3 days.
IBS is a diagnosis of exclusion which is usually a functional problem which means that when despite of all tests every thing turns up to be fine we label patient as having IBS, It takes months to develop and years to diagnose.
Just follow what i said for 3 days and you would be fine.

Just one point I forgot to mention. My stool was looking pale yellow as well for past four to five days, not sure if that means anything.

Hi,

Stool comes in a range of colors. All shades of brown and even green are considered normal. Only rarely does stool color indicate a potentially serious intestinal condition. Stool color is generally influenced by what you eat as well as by the amount of bile ; a yellow green fluid that digests fats.When a patient has intestinal infection this yellow fluid is not broken down properly hence causing the stool to turn yellow.
Once you would take medications you would be fine.
