Brief Answer:
a course of antibiotic will be required, contact your gp

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXX, welcome to hcm and thanks for choosing us.

I understood your concerns and loose stools/indigestion is a common problem seen in clinics. In my opinion you have some infection in your intestine. I would also like to know if you have any fever, vomiting, frequency of motions in a day and characteristics of stools (blood stained or watery). I would also like to know about the types of food you are not able to digest.

You will require a course of antibiotics along with antacids, oral rehydration solutions for 3 to 4 days. Since antibiotics are prescription medicines, please visit your GP and get it prescribed. Keep taking plenty of water and light food as you have been doing.

I hope my reply will help you. Please feel free to write for follow up queries. I wish you good health and rapid recovery.

Dr. XXXXXXX lal Poonia,

Thank you for your reply. I did use antibiotics in the first 1-2 days which helped me recover. So, I dont have major problems now. My concern is when I eat food like pizza, milk or bread or oily foods, spicy foods, the problem again surfaces. How long does it take for the system to fully recover? and are there any long term implications? Its been 2-3 weeks since the first severe diarrhoea. Any recommendations on what food to eat would be nice. I dont have fever, vomitting or blood stained stools. I had fever initially when i took antibiotics and it went away. Now, I just get watery stools (not frequent) when I eat above mentioned kind of foods. Thanks!

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
complete the course of antibiotics and take lighter food items

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXX, welcome again and thanks for providing further details.

It takes about a week for system to become all right. Don't worry you will be fine soon with advises given below and there is no long term implications. Please don't worry.

But in my opinion antibiotics course which you took was not complete. You took medicines for 1 or 2 days. That was not sufficient. You should have taken it for five days. Moreover you should have taken light food with less proteins, less milk products (but curd is good), less spices, no animal proteins.

At this stage I would like to advise you following (to be observed for a week)
1 take simple light food which is easy to digest (refer previous paragraph)
2 keep hydrating yourself. It will hasten the recovery.
3 take antibiotics for three more days for long term relief. Let me know the name of antibiotics.

I hope my follow up reply will help you. Please feel free to contact for further queries. I wish you rapid recovery and healthy life ahead. Kindly provide a feedback on this reply. Thanks

Thank you for your follow up reply. Really appreciate your suggestions.

Yes, I had taken antibiotics for 2 days or so. Once I took them, I had severe fever and tiredness. The next day, I was completely all right and had no fever. I dont remember the name of the anti-biotic I took.

But, I will follow you advice. Thank you so much.

Brief Answer:
a combination of fluroquinolone group and metronidazole group. meet GP

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX, welcome again and thanks for your appreciation.

You must have taken fluroquinolone group+ metronidazole group, a combination antibiotic for loose stools. It is most commonly used antibiotic for loose stools. In most of the countries antibiotics are not available over the counter, so please get it prescribed from GP.

Please feel free to contact for follow up queries. I wish you good health. Please rate this reply. Thanks again
