Suggest Treatment For Loss Of Balance Causing Minor Accidents While Riding

Question: I am 86 years old and until two years ago I consistently enjoyed riding my motorcycle. Most of my riding has been on freeways and highways on a large displacement motorcycle. About 4 years ago I downsized to a 900cc V-twin. That was when I began having minor tumbles on the bike and always at very slow speeds when maneuvering for a parking space. I was lucky in most cases to have a nearby volunteer. to help me get the bike back up. A year ago I had a more serious tumble passing two slow moving tractor trailers along the curb XXXXXXX I was only going 8mph and there was really no explanation or excuse for laying the bike down. But there I was. The trucks stopped and the two drivers jumped out and pulled the bike upright but my foot was injured. Now a year later I find that although the foot is mostly alright I cannot jump rope, I cannot stand on either foot more than 1 or 2 seconds at a time and my kids won't tell me where they hid my motorcycle. I can't seriously argue with them until I can at least walk a straight line. I'm taking mexclizine to no avail. I really need to ride but I've got to cure this balance problem. Can you recommend some kind of specialized treatment? Thank you very much. signed: XXXXXXX Stafford

Brief Answer:
I will advise you MRI brain and spine.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have studied your case.
I will advise you MRI brain and spine.
Loss of balance can be related to cerebellum function.
I will advise you to EMG-NCV for better diagnosis.

Another possibility of age related knee osteoarthritis, for this clinical examination may be required.
X ray knee will help in diagnosis.

Physiotherapy like ultrasound and interferential therapy will give quick relief.
I will advise to check your vit B12 and vit D3 level.

You said nothing about an 'inner-ear' problem. Isn't there a small tube in the ear containing a fluid for 'balance'?. Are there 'specialists' for this kind of inner ear condition?
