Suggest Treatment For Loss Of Consciousness And Depression In An Elderly Person
My mother has sudden loss of both legs and falls - with no prior warning. She always hits her head. When she gets up, she feels dizzy, a little confused about how she fell and says she sees black.
Currently, my mother has been diagnosed as having: depression, migraines, mild epilepsy. She also has a benign cyst in the brain and does very little physical movement on a daily basis.
Doctors have been unable to determine the cause of her falls, but they are getting more frequent.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern, Loss of consciousness and sudden loss of power in both legs should be worked up for neurological cause. Apparently, these history of seizures, cysts in brain, migraine, depression all on their own can cause this sudden loss of consciousness episodes as well as hemiperesis. Migraine can cause hemiparesis type symptoms and called acephalgic migraine. So can depression lead to motor loss which is transient and purely psychological. Epilepsy has this sudden fall and loss of consciousness episodes called ictal states.
Your mother needs complete neurological work up like EEG, MRI, Pet scan, functional MRI if needed and work up for spinal cord as well and things may get clearer. Find a good neurologist and let them help you out.
I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
