Hi,
Welcome to Health Care Magic.

In this case hearing impairment can be caused by both meds or surgeries or a third cause. It needs a complete work up to determine that ..hearning imparements can be of many kinds some reversible and some correctable .
In order to help you better , I would like you to give me some more information,
I will here by ask you some relevant questions to fill up the information gap.
1) Which ear is affected?
2) Did it develop gradually or suddenly?
3) Did it appear immediatelt after the last surgery?
4) Talked to his surgeon about that?
5) How did you come to know about the impairment?
6) Since how much time the above mentioned medication is being taken?
Waiting for your input

Detailed Answer:
Hello Thanks for writing back with a detailed and comprehensive response to my questions.
As far as the symptoms ans history is concerned in my opinion the problem may ne be entirely related to surgeries. If thay was the matter there wouldnt have been any loss in the other ear.
Hearing loss in one ear is pronounced may be due to the injury he recieved at that side and surgical reconstruction
but as he has lost hearing some.what in both his ears so one has to determine why is thay happening at all.
As long as his medications are comcerned percocet rarely..very rarely can cause problems with hearing ut these complaints are very rare ...other two drugs have not got any reported incedent of hearing loss.
So in my opinion drugs arent the culprit.. prime suspect seems to be some disease or his surgery ..some times there is hearing loss in both ears but when I ear gets more insult and there is nuch hearing loss in that ear..the other ear starts showing hearing loss too which was there previously too but was masked.
I would suggest you to contact a hearing clinic they have instruments to determine ho much hearing impairment is there in each ear ..what type of hearing impairment is it and what should be done for that. These people can really hel p you in that matter. They might want details of the surgery and they might want to run some tests on you husband but this in the end will help the doctors to determine what might be the cause and how it can be made better.
I hope this answered the questions.
If you have more feel free to ask.
Stay blessed.
Regards
Dr Muhammad Ahmad
