Suggest Treatment For Loss Of Vision In A Premature Baby
Question: my friend's kid was born after 30 weeks of pregnancy. he was incubated for weeks for his Lung to complete growing.
my friend noticed that the kid's vision is not normal... or he rather does not see at all.
he went through investigations and consultations locally here in Egypt, yet would like to consult you showing the attached scans if there is any thing to do.
The Doctors gave a possibility that the Incubator Oxygen level could have harmed the eye nerve or retina or whatever... could there be a hope??

Brief Answer:
Retinopathy of prematuraty.
Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
The defect which the infant has is of very advanced level. Still there are two plus points, one is that the child has had very good management. I feel it is technically the best which can be offered. Two things are not as bad as they seem as there are a lot of improvements which can occur with the passage of time.
Regular follow up is necessary to identify any complications which may occur and managed at an early stage.
Follow medication properly and have regular follow up and we will expect improvement with the passage of time.
Please do get back to me in case of any further query in this regard.
