Question: My Mom is taking Labatalol 100 3xday ,nitadupine 30 1x, hadralazine 75 2x and clondine .01 2x day. New regiment for 15 days...been in hospital & rehab being monitored. Today bp dropped to105/52. Is this because sHe has not been eating right for the last few days? How big of a role does proper nutrition pay I this bp/rehab equation?

Brief Answer:
Healthy Diet plays an important role in recovery

Detailed Answer:
Hello

My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. As you have asked multiple questions so i will answer one by one for your ease.

1. About drop in B.P:
As your mom is taking multiple drugs for B.P control so there is quite a possibility that those drugs if taken in more than the required amount could have caused sudden drop. At the same time if patient is on medication does take his/her diet properly then it can also cause a drop in B.P. So i would suggest you to make her diet healthy & make sure that she eats in front of you. In this way she will be motivated that you are taking care and will increase her will power to become healthy. At the same time observe if again there is sudden drop in B.P. Normal blood pressure should be 120/80. It can deviate slightly.

2. About diet & Rehab:
Yes healthy diet plays role in patient's health. When patient is undergoing rehab there her body requires right amount of vitamins & minerals for smooth recovery & energy. So if patient does not take food at all or healthy diet then his/her recovery gets prolonged and is more prone to develop infections. On the other hand certain food ingredients like salt should be avoided in excess for hypertensive patients because salt can increase B.P.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
