Detailed Answer:
Greetings and welcome to HCM. Thank you for your question. I understand your concern.
Well, indeed, your resing heart rate seems low. The normal heart rate is 60-100 beats per minute. In people that were athletic or performed regular vigorous physical activity during youth, a heart beat down to 50 per minute is considered normal, when not under treatment. Now, it is a good thing that during your physical acivity, the heart rate goes up and responds well te the physical stress. However, as I can see from your description that you are not taking any medication, this heart rate requires further investigation, to assess if there are problems with the conduction system of the heart. The tests that should be undertaken are: EKG and a Holter rhythm monitoring, to assess the true heart rate throughout a day, and whether there are heart blocks or pauses present in the 24-hour registration. It is only after these results are back, when we can discuss about any treatment.
I hope I was helpful. I am happy to help, if you have follow-up questions.
Best regards,
Dr. Meriton
