Suggest Treatment For Low White Blood Cell Count
Question: Hello. I have had four CBC's in the last year....8.9, 8.3 (months ago), 7.3 (5 weeks ago) and 5.5 (from this past Monday). Although it is in the normal range (5.5), it is falling. I recently had a very large cyst removed from my head about 7 weeks ago, surgically, and received lots of mosquito and black fly bites a couple of weeks ago. Should I worry about the falling numbers? All other results from CBC are in the normal range, and have not fluctuated much over all the previous tests.

Sorry, it was the white blood cell count.
Brief Answer:
It is a sign of recovery from infection
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thank you for the clarification. Normal TLC(White cell) count ranges from 4-11,000.Upper side TLC means that there could be some infection. Your count is decreasing from 8.9 to 5, so it is a good sign. You need not to worry. Your previous infection is not settling.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!

Thank you for your answer. When I was in the 8's range for my WBC, it was months ago, under major stress because I had thyroid cancer. My nerves are starting to settle down now, but it was just 7.3, six weeks ago, and now it's 5.5, and it seems to keep falling. That is why I am worried. I also had received about 40 or more black fly and mosquito bites about two weeks ago while away on vacation in the mountains. Could that have caused the lower reading? So again, I worry that it keeps going down. Thank you.
Brief Answer:
Do not worry at the moment
Detailed Answer:
hello
as i mentioned earlier, you should not worry at the moment. if count falls below 3.5 then we can proceed further to check if there is any pathological cause. at the moment you should relax and continue with your normal daily routine.
thank you
