Brief Answer:
Better to get examined

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Pain in lower abdomen can occur due to different causes like:
-Related to internal reproductive organs like menstrual pain, pelvic inflammation etc.
-Gastrointestinal related eg:appendicitis
-Pain due to urinary tract like renal calculi, cystitis etc.
-If there is possibility of pregnancy, miscarriage etc to be ruled out.

So, as the pain is severe, better to consult gynecologist or general surgeon once and let your friend get examined.
Depending on the examination findings, if needed they will advice ultrasound.
Then treatment can be planned according to the diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your question. I will be available to answer followup queries. If you are satisfied with the response, please give your review at the end of the discussion.
Take care.
