Suggest Treatment For Lower Back Pain After Injury

default
Posted on Tue, 3 Jan 2017
Question: I slipped on ice and injured my back.. I don't know if it just a bruise or muscle problem or something more serious.

Injury is in lower back, left side. There is a very sharp pain when I move. Once I am in position, it goes away. I can walk, sometimes with pain.

Brief Answer:
Does not seem to be serious

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting the question.

From the history and the symptoms that you have mentioned,it does not seem to be a serious injury.

The fact that you can walk (even though with pain),almost rules out a fracture.

In my opinion it seems to be a more of a muscular injury with a blunt trauma to soft tissues.

You can take analgesic muscle relaxant tablets for 3 days. Application of analgesic gels and hot fomentation will help. You can use lumbosacral belt for support.

If the symptoms do not improve after 3 days, you can get a X ray / MRI done to rule out a bony injury.

DO NOT BEND FORWARD OR LIFT HEAVY WEIGHT.
This may aggravate the pain.

While getting up from lying down position, you should turn on one side and then get up slowly.

I hope the answer was useful.

Feel free to ask me any other doubts that you may have.

Thank you.

Best regards.

Wish you a speedy recovery.
