Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
When you say a possible UTI, was a culture done, and a sensitivity report to determine which antibiotics the causative agent is sensitive or resistant to?
Your initial symptoms warranted a urinalysis. A urinalysis can give an indication of whether there may be stones or a urinary tract infection. If signs of an infection, then a culture and sensitivity should be done.
If these have not been done, then it is time to do so. The results of a culture at this point might be a bit muddled if the levofloxacin partially but not completely treated an infection.
I also think imaging studies would be appropriate to see if there are any stones.
My guess is that your doctor gave you a 10 day course because he or she suspected there might be mild kidney involvement in your possible UTI - otherwise an uncomplicated UTI is usually treated with fewer days of antibiotics. But when suspecting a kidney infection, a urinalysis and culture are imperative. By the way, I say a possibility of a mild kidney infection because if severe, there is fever and nausea and flank pain.
I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information or clarification.
