Question: I have a bulging disc at L5 - other than surgery, is there anything that can be done to alleviate the problems I have walking?
Brief Answer:
Epidural steroid injection
Detailed Answer:
Hi there
Thanks for the query
For the low back pain radiating to the lower limbs WITHOUT neurological deficiency like muscle weakness or sensory loss, you cab get an Epidural steroid injection which will give good relief to the pain caused due to nerve root compression.
If you have muscle weakness and difficulty in lifting the great toe up or flexing the foot and ankle upward then you need surgery.
I hope I have answered your query.
I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
