Suggest Treatment For Lower Backache And Soreness Of Stomach

Separate issues GI and back
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
I have read through your history and am sorry to hear that you are having GI issues these past 3 days. I am glad to hear that your back pain has improved. As you have already surmised that the back pain is just muscle strain fro your lifting of boxes last weekend. From your history it sound like you did take some ibuprofen to help the pain and this may cause GI upset including upset stomach and possible diarrhea. I would recommend to reduce your GI upset is to stop the ibuprofen. The Nyquil also has large amounts of alcohol which can also cause GI upset and may aggravate your condition. Nyquil and Dayquil also contain a decongestant phenylephrine which is a drug similar to epinephrine or adrenalin. This frequently causes simulation of nerves and cause shaking hands and over stimulation of GI tract with loose BMs.
There is no correlation between back pain and nerve damage causing GI upset.
All your symptoms should gradually improve without any further treatment. I would also recommend not using the Nyquil, Dayquil or ibuprofen. They all have side effects that my worsen your condition.
In summary
1. GI distress secondary to Ibuprofen, Nyquil and Dayquil
2. Jitteriness side effect from Nyquil and Dayquil (the decongestant)
3. No signs of kidney disease or infection
4. All symptoms should resolve on their own
I hope this answers your question. Please contact HCM again with any of your health care concerns

One month later: a similar stomach ache feeling has returned, in the lower middle of my stomach this time. Also now have tenderness in my lower abdomen and around the groin area, with slight dull ache sometimes. No vomiting, nausea, diarrhea or blood in stool or irregularity. Could this be recurrent, lingering, related to similar stomach troubles from last month? Could this possibly be a hernia, or bacterial infection? Thank you for your help.
A follow-up from my question last night - this AM I had a bowel movement that was very light brown almost yellowy in color and sticky consistency. No blood, though. My stomach/abdomen is still sensitive; growling for food but I do not have much appetite.
Also, in the past week I've experienced sensitive, bloodshot eyes. Not overwhelming or full red, but small red veins most distinct in between the iris and the bridge of my nose. I've been treating with Allaway eye drops which has decreased redness and itchiness. Can this be related to my stomach issue?
Thank you.
Could be infection this time
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the follow up.
Recent episode of GI upset may not be due to the Allaway eye drops.
Yes, it can be due to infection. The description of the stool suggests a possible bacterial infection.
I recommend a stool test here. This may help to identify the pathogen and plan a suitable antibiotic course.
Warm regards,
