Suggest Treatment For Lower Left Abdominal Discomfort

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Jun 2015
Question: Hello, I've had lower left abdominal discomfort for maybe a week or the now. I thought it was something that would just go away; however, this morning I felt a sharp pain. I believe this all started when I would get aroused from watching pornography for about a week and would deny the ejaculation every time. What is this? Will it go away on its own? Or do you think it's something more serious? Thanks doc!

Brief Answer:
Genito-urinary problems / intestinal

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of discomfort in left lower abdomen - turned into sharp pain today morning - related with arousal on watching porno and denying ejaculation .

This may then be related to the following possible conditions:
as per the history you have given.
- Prostatic problem
- Seminal vesicles problem
- Epididymis and testicle

Your queries:
What is this? > as discussed above

Will it go away on its own? > you can certainly try anything that will cause ejaculation and see if the pain goes away or not. If it does reduce on ejaculation the pain of the origin of the congestion of the above structures is almost certain and this may then go away on its own as the natural body mechanism.

Or do you think it's something more serious? >This will definitely depend upon the proper diagnosis alone.

So I would advise you the following:
- Clinical evaluation, actual physical examination including the examination of the scrotal contents and per-rectal digital (finger) palpation of the prostate. This is best done and correlated only by a trained General Surgeon or an Urologist.
- Ultrasonography of the abdomen, per-rectal for prostate and seminal vesicles, urinary bladder and with color doppler mode for scrotal contents. If MRI can be done still better.
- Tests of the blood, urine and stool.

General Surgeon can also examine the abdomen top rule out other cause like colitis and so on.

The Seriousness and Treatment will obviously depend upon the finding.

I hope you do not have any other symptoms related to the intestines,
I hope this answer helps you to get a proper diagnosis, and get a proper further treatment. Please feel free to ask for more or if you need further clarifications or if you feel there is a gap of communication.

Hello Dr. T Chandrakant,

Thanks for your informative analysis, the pain has now been replaced with a burning sensation in the left side of my abdomen. Almost like if you were to put a product like icy hot on your skin. I'm scared and quite worried. Should I go in to the doctors asap as in emergency at 4:00 am or do you think this could wait till tomorrow? Does the burning sensation clear anything up as to what may be causing this? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
I think so, yes to Emergeny ASAP

Detailed Answer:
With the history you have provided, somehow I have a feeling that you should go to Emergency.
This will help in getting a ruling out a certain diagnosis and certainly a proper diagnosis is the key to the right treatment.

Burning sensation does not really clear much. This sensation can occur with severe and acute infection or with neurological affection (as a part of any disease).

Any other symptoms like nausea, vomiting, chills, fever, bowel movements or so on? Is there any pain deep within the rectal / perineal area or scrotum?

Please give feedback.

Yes I am feeling a bit nautious and dizzy when I stand. However, there is no deep pain within in my rectal or scrotum area just my abdomen. Could it be a build up of seminal fluids that haven't been released?

Brief Answer:
Other possibilities should be ruled out.

Detailed Answer:
If there is nausea and dizziness on standing, rush to emergency.
This may be due to the congestion of any of the organs I discussed , but at the same time some other diseases also have to be considered like torsion of the left testis, intestinal problems, hernia and so on; these are possible to be diagnosed on actual examination by a Doctor.
