no burning sensation during urination..... build up of gas and mild pain near belly button.... relief once I have something to eat or passing of stool
Brief Answer:
Following advice...
Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
Your symptoms are more typical for spastic colitis or IBS, however some times atypical urinary infection (without burning during urination may be present).
This is why if you were my patient I would recommend to do the following examinations:
- Blood work icluding pancreatic enzymes
- Urinalysis
- Abdominal ultrasound
This are essential to exclude any urinary tract infection or other gastrointestinal problems.
If the above mentioned are normal than your symptoms are exclusively related to spastic colitis / IBS.
If this is your case I would recommend to do:
- Avoid spicey food
- Avoid unnecessary stress
- Eat meals reach in fresh vegetables and fruits, poor in animal fats
- Add simeticone to reduce gas
- Add antispastic (Buscopan)
- Use stool softener (lactulose tablets)
- Add chammomile tea
Hope this was of help!
Wish you health!

Hi back,
It's a great thing that blood work and urinalysis were normal. In this case you should go for abdominal ultrasound. If it's normal than you should follow my above mentioned advices (treatment and lifestyle change).
If the symptoms will persist after 4 weeks of treatment and lifestyle change you should go for colonoscopy.
Wish you health!
