Suggest Treatment For Lower Left Abdominal Pain With Constipation
Clinical evaluation and workup needed
Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome
I appreciate your concern
The pill you are referring to is dulcolax. If there is lower abdominal pain on the left side and the pain has persisted then causes other than constipation should also be considered. The abdomen should be examined to look for rigidity, rebound tenderness that may indicate peritoneal inflammation. An x ray erect abdomen with both hemi diaphragms should be advised. Anti spasmodic medication like hyosciamine can be taken to relieve the pain alongside Tylenol. If the pain is also present above the umbilicus in the epigastric region then an EKG should also be done to rule out any cardiac cause. An ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis can be advised if there is flank pain associated with colicky pain and burning urination or with RBCs on urinalysis. GERD/ Reflux disease evaluation can be done and treated accordingly with PPIs if the above workup is normal.
Wishing you best of health
Thanks
