Suggest Treatment For Lower Right Side Abdominal Pain And Cramps

default
Posted on Tue, 1 Sep 2015
Question: Hi. So last month i wrote several times regarding right sided cramp, dull ache in my lower abdomen. It bothered me almost every day all day and even spread to my stomach where i felt cramping and pain. I had a normal ultra sound, rectal exam- normal, gyn exam normal. The pain went away or dissapate greatly after my last menstrual cycle on July 29th where it didnt even bother me. Today out of nowhere the pain or cramp on lower right side is back. Now it occurred when I moved a certain way but now its just with me. My doctors all say its either muscle skeletal and flares up at times, or stress induced IBS or my gyn says it could be when im ovualting. My cycle isnt due til August 29th or around there. Would i be ovulating now? Also, do what my doctors say sound plausible? Thanks so much.

Brief Answer:
Mild pelvic infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
It seems like your ovulation pain only as it is typically your mid cycle and thus coinciding with ovulation.
But ovulation pain usually disappears in 2-4 days and never persists till menstruation.
Alternative theory is that it can be due mild grade chronic pelvic inflammation which gets triggered by ovulation and is relieved only when congestion is relieved after menstruation.
So in my opinion the best treatment for you is to take prescription for doxycycline and ornidazole antibiotics and take antiinflammatory drugs for 10-14 days and see the response and recurrence in next cycle.
I'm pretty sure that it will give you a lot of relief.

Thank you. You are probably right. Interestingly enough i took antibiotics last month amoxcillan for what was believed to be a possible UTI and the pain felt better. Now is having pain only on the right side typical of ovulation or does it have to be both sides?

Brief Answer:
Yes it is many a times limited to the involved ovary

Detailed Answer:
No dear, it is again very typical of ovulation pain in a patient of chronic pelvic infection when pain is limited to ovary ovulating in that very cycle.
You definitely need antibiotics for at least 14 days and you will see profound difference in many things.
It will even help to relieve any amount of dysmenorrhea (if at all you have) and may increase sexual pleasure.
So visit your gynecologist and fetch the prescription.
Wish you good health soon.
