Suggest Treatment For Lump In Right Breast

Posted on Thu, 2 Jul 2015
Question: Just a question regarding a breast lump, I have recently noticed I have a small lump in the right breast, its firm a little bit of give but it is smooth. I am 23 I do suffer with very lumpy bumpy breasts but my GP has said it is normal breast tissue I have had 2 ultra sound scans in the past both declaring nothing but normal breast tissue. I keep finding little bumps in my breast quite a lot and I am constantly fearing the worst, my last breast scan on my right breast was only back in March so surely that would of picked up anything then, or can this be fairly new?.

Brief Answer:
May be a granular breast, occurs in some.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history and the way you have put up your concerns.
After re-reading the history you have provided, I am sure that you understand that when the ultrasonography and breast scans are normal, you may please stop worrying.
Since you are 23 years old, the changes in the breasts depending upon the hormonal cycles will be pronounced.
The breast tissues can have granular appearance in some patients and not worth worrying as it is normal for you.

If you still want a confirmation, please consult a Oncosurgeon or General Surgeon for palpation, as he can tell you for sure whether this is normal or needs FNAC or excision.

I hope this answer helps you.

Thank you for your advice it just makes me so concerned having these lumps in my breast, as I said it was less than 2 months since I had an ultrasound scan, so wouldn't affect me now?

Thank you for your advice on this I do feel so relieved I just don't understand why I have so many lumps and bumps, it's hard to know what I'm looking for when I'm doing a monthly check of my breasts?. Is it common to feel firm lumps but have a smooth surface? Iv also noticed that when I lie down to exam my breast the lump Gos and it just feels like a smooth bump, and I do have to apply pressure to feel it?

Brief Answer:
as explained.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your appreciation and feedback.
I would like to ask a few questions then:
- Are you married? (if married-any pregnancy?)
- Why would you be doing self examination so frequently at the age of 22-23, there is no need to find as cancers are very rare to occur so early.
- Have you been examined by any XXXXXXX Gynecologist/general Surgeon/ Oncosurgeon?

As I have mentioned above, some people have granular appearance of the breast as compared to others. It may change with advancing age/marriage/pregnancy and so on.

I hope this answers the questions in your mind.
Please feel free to give further feedback or ask for any relevant queries.

I suppose I do it once a month because of the first time I found a lump and went through breast scans I have been very paranoid ever since. I am not married, and I have never had a child nor been examined by a gynaecologist or general surgeon.

Brief Answer:
May be normal granular appearance

Detailed Answer:
OK !!!
I can understand the plight you must be going through.
Since you are unmarried , the breasts of many unmarried females remain so.
Hence stop worrying.
In view of the normal reports, please stop worrying.

Please get once examined by a Gynecologist or a General Surgeon so that on examination they can explain and you can have an interaction and clearance of doubts.

Yes it is hard, so this granular tissue is normal? And nothing will have changed after these scans from 2 months ago?.

Answered by Dr. T Chandrakant (7 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Granular can be normal in many- nothing may change in 2 months.

Detailed Answer:
Obviously normal, you are not yet married, young, hence seen in many persons of your age.
There is always a personal variation.
Hence to confirm my thought please get this properly checked by an expert, so that you get to know whether this is normal or not and secondly, you can discuss further face-to-face with the Doctor.
Nothing much changes in just 2 months. Too short of the time.

I hope this answers your query.
